The Hardtails

On the night of the Lilac Festival we headed over to Vicious Circle for a pleasurable evening of open Jam. The Jam was followed by an as usual awesome performance by local Rockabilly band, the Hardtails.

Here are a few photos that I took in this low lit environment.

Lilac Festival

As many Calgarians know, every year Mission area's 4th Street is taken over by the Lilac Festival. The Festival, a wide array of entertainers, vendors, and copious amounts of participants was yet another successful turn out.
Here are some of the highlights from that sunny day on May 31st.

The Creativity Book

Quite some time back I stumbled upon this fantastic book. It is entitled ' The Creativity Book' a year's worth of inspiration and guidance. I highly recommend it to anyone that wishes to sharpen up their creativity saw. The author Eric Maisel,a Ph.D, has been coaching people for years on how to uncover that everyday creative person inside of you. Complete with exercises to complete throughout the step by step book, the author comes up with things you'd never think of trying to stir up the inspiration from within.

The Book can be found at Amazon.

My new hiking stick

This post is not entirely astounding, but I thought I'd share my sweet find that I modified with a sander and grinder to create the perfect hiking companion. All that was done to my walking stick was sand down of the branches and smoothing of the top holding spot. Just an exciting summmer foreshadowing of greatness to come in the mountains.

The Stills Live shoot

As many of you may or may not know, I started working for Beatroute. Beatroute is my favorite monthly local music magazine-distribution in Calgary, Edmonton, banff, Canmore, and Lethbridge with distribution in BC as well. I am contributing as a photographer for live shows. Through this opportunity I am able to select which bands I would like to shoot with chance to write an occasional review every now and then.

My first shoot was for a band from Montreal by the name of The Stills.
At the Juno Awards this year, they won awards for New Group of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year for Oceans Will Rise.
Here are a few photos of the show from May 11th at the Den in Calgary.

Film Noir Shoot

At the beginning of last month I collaborated with a Videographer friend of mine by the name of Ian Borg. We got together on a Saturday for a Film Noir comic book style stop motion project.
With the much appreciated help of Ken as our model, we were to get the perfect results we were looking for to create pleasing outcome. The results will be a stop motion project which is currently in the works.
Here are the stills with effects applied from that shoot.
